A TRAILBLAZER AND A TISSOT.

A TRAILBLAZER AND A TISSOT.

Meet Liane Engeman, a woman of daring spirit and fearless ambition, hailing from Haarlem in the Netherlands. Her extraordinary journey into the racing world began on what seemed like just an average day. As she waited for her bus, a serendipitous encounter with Rob Slotemaker, a renowned touring car driver, changed her life's trajectory. In a twist of fate, he offered her a ride and later, an invitation to his driving school.

It was the unexpected ignition of Liane's thrilling journey into the world of motorsport- from handling the wheel in her father’s taxi company to mastering the sharp turns of Zandvoort. Liane's race craft developed quickly, notably making her debut in Formula 3 piloting the Brabham BT21.

She went on to leave her mark in the male-dominated sphere of Formula Vee, Formula 3, and the British Saloon Car Championships and would even go on to co-drive a Matra Djet at the 12 Hours of Sebring alongside Janet Guthrie. However, when an unexpected pit-stop arrived in the form of pregnancy, Liane's racing career was cut short.

Today, we delve into the pages of history to celebrate not only Liane Engeman's racing career but also the dynamic, boundary-breaking life she led off the track. As it happens, she's pictured here wearing a Tissot Seastar Ref.40502 – a timeless piece for a trailblazer with an equally timeless spirit.
