From the world’s longest running continual production watch manufacturer, the Chronomètre Royal has been a trademark since 1907. In its earliest form, the Chronomètre Royal was a line of classically styled pocket watches from the quietest of the ‘Big Three’ Swiss-Siblings; Vacheron Constantin. Quickly becoming one of horology’s best known models, the Chronomètre Royal was one of the first attempts at a serial production precision timepiece, aimed at providing their most discerning and exclusive clientele the most accurate timekeeping possible, but in an equally luxurious and waterproof package.

This particular example is an early 1955 example of the reference 6075, sitting at a perfect 35mm case constructed entirely of a warm rose 18k gold. The case is minimal dress watch design at its very best, and reminds us of the early 30s Disco Volante watch styles that featured smooth, uninterrupted bezels.

The 6075 houses the manual winding Calibre 1008 ‘Balance Stop’ (BS) Centre-Seconds - first issued in 1953 - this movement was developed off the base movement Ébauche 450 from Jaeger-LeCoultre but finished to a significantly higher level; featuring 19 jewels and Geneva Seal all at a mere 4mm thickness - allowing for a slender case.

Complimenting this case is a pristine white dial, showing very little evidence of its age thanks to a series of careful custodians. The beveled hour markers and hands show a layer of oxidisation common with un-polished gold of this age and add a vintage charm that is simply irreplicable. Perhaps even more beautiful than the case however is the shimmering Gay Frères bracelet, which actually displays 3 different finishing techniques and is truly GF craftsmanship at its best - a fitting match for such an elegant watch that will accommodate up to 18cm.

Benefitting from a recent service, this example runs at a superb +4 Seconds/Per Day with a strong 260 Degrees of Amplitude and minimal 0.3ms beat error.
