The Tudor Snowflake Submariner has carved out a niche for itself, drawing comparisons with its Rolex siblings - the renowned 5513 and 1680 models. In late 1969, Tudor released the 7021, the first Tudor Sub with a date function. In 1973, a new generation of Snowflakes was rolled out; the ref. 9411/0 as we see here and the ref. 9401 two years later, both now housing the hacking ETA movements.
The present example, dated to 1973, was one of the first 9411/0s that left the Tudor factory (799xxx serial). Unlike most early 9411/0 dials which are prone to bubbling, the original blue dial on this watch is pristine; it has aged to a dark navy hue, and the lume on the markers and snowflake hands has gained a rich pumpkin patina. The case remains supremely strong, and the original blue insert has faded heavily to a 'ghost' grey colour.
The watch has been freshly checked over and the movement is beating healthily at -5 s/d, 248 amps, with a 0.4 ms beat error. It comes on a pair of grey suede straps from our friends at The Strap Tailor. These Tudor snowflakes are so cool and still represent incredible value as compared to their Rolex counterparts.
