If you are a dive watch enthusiast or collector, the 62MAS should or will already be in your collection. Over the last six decades, Seiko have produced some incredible pieces that have donned the wrists of many, both in the civilian and military realm. BUT, one watch started it all. The 62MAS.
The 62MAS is actually a 6217-8000/1, The MAS is portmanteau for autoMAtic Selfdater and was introduced in 1965, prior to this the Seiko divers were only made for recreational water sports, hence the depth rating being 50m prior to the 62MAS. Seiko saw an opportunity in the market, they could see swiss manufactures were offering much higher depth rated watches and decided to produce the 62MAS to cater for the demand.
This example hails from 1967 and remains in its original form. The dial markers display some blackening as do the lume on the hands, the glass has surface cracks, this can be replaced no problem and we can facilitate. The original insert is in place and has no cracks, just surface marks. The movement has been serviced and the watch has been pressure tested to 3bar.
This is an honest example of a true diving legend.
We have fitted the watch or a tropic strap.
