The 5513 marque of the Submariner is probably the most iconic, it also produced the most variations within the model during its 25 year production run. Starting in 63 and with pointed crown guard cases and beautiful gilt dials and hands, running all the way through to the 88/89 with white gold tritium markers and gloss dials.
In the early 70's Rolex made a change to the dials, they switched over the metres to feet as the first measurement on the dial. This was due to the fact their market share was larger in the US and they were still using imperial measurements.
This watch is one of the last of the meters first dials and what a dial it is. The tritium plots have aged perfectly as have the hands. The hooked 5 insert has aged with a slight copper tone to the numbers and hashes. The bracelet was replaced in 2011 to a 93150.
The original box, papers, booklet, sales tag and anchor has survived with the watch, even the original 5513 sticker.
The movement is running as you would expect, +7 secs per day, 250 amps with a beat error of 0.3.
