The 16710 is one of our favourite 5-digit Rolexes - it was in production for eighteen years, eventually being phased out in 2007. During that time, several subtle, but important changes were made to the reference.
The 16710 directly superseded the 16760 with its slimmer case whilst still retaining the Cal. 3185 movement. Early 16710 examples feature tritium dials such as the previous GMT Master models. Between 1997 and 2000, like most Rolexes from the era, 16710 dials transitioned from tritium to Luminova, then to Super Luminova, as indicated by 'SWISS' and 'SWISS MADE' signatures at 6 o'clock. The present watch is an early tritium example and what an example it is.
The dial and hands are very creamy, uncommon to see on this model. The case has been lightly polished before but remains very strong. The serif Pepsi insert has faded beautifully which compliments the dial. The 78360/501 full-link bracelet is in excellent condition. The clasp is stamped W4 (Apr 95). The watch comes with its inner and outer box, chrono tag, wallet and booklets.
The movement is running perfectly at +3, 280 amps, with 0 beat error. A fantastic and characterful example of one the best five-digit models to be produced by Rolex.
