The GMT Master is one of the world’s most iconic watch designs. Originally created for airline pilots, it now graces the wrists of collectors and enthusiasts alike. The reference 1675 we have here was first produced in 1959 and remained in production until 1980.
Over its 20+ years of production, Rolex introduced numerous changes to the 1675, from the movement and case to the dials (transitioning from gilt to matte) and even the bezel design. These updates give 1675s from different eras distinct characters.
The present example has the most well-known matte production dial, the MK1, nicknamed 'Long E' - easily recognised by the long middle bar in the letter E in ROLEX. This dial had a long production run and is seen from 67 to early 72 serials.
With the exception of the fully linked 78360 oyster bracelet from 2006, the watch is all correct. The case is very thick showing minimal signs of polishing, the crown guards are especially full. The dial is is mint with no imperfections and the original hands match the dial and have no lume loss or cracks. The red back bezel has a gentle fade to it which compliments the dial perfectly. The date wheel is also correct with its hooked 7s and closed 6 and 9s.
The movement has been checked and is running well at -1s/d, 260 amps with a beat error of 0.0.
A great example of one of the most wearable watches ever created.
