The Rolex Explorer, long regarded as an underappreciated gem in the world of horology, has recently witnessed a bit of a renaissance. These once-underestimated watches now command considerable attention among watch enthusiasts due to their robustness and wearability.
The 16570 began life in 1989 and had a solid 22-year run. Over this time they had two different calibre movements; tritium, luminova, and super luminova dials; holed and solid cases; and various types of bracelets. This example sits in the sweet spot, with the holed case, solid end links, and twin lock clasp. The watch has a great case that has seen minimal polishing as has the full link SEL bracelet stamped AB7 (Jul 00).
The movement runs perfectly at +3 s/d, 265 amps with a beat error of 0.1 ms. It passed a 10-bar pressure test with flying colours. The watch comes with its inner box, booklet and punched papers, ready for its next home.
