The Rolex Explorer has gained a large fan base over the last few years, previously being a model that was somewhat overlooked. As appreciation grows for its rugged good looks, the it could be said that the previous 16550 is the 'ultimate' reference of the Explorer II, but good examples now command huge price tags.
This first series 16570 is as close as you’ll get and for a fraction of the price. The watch houses the earlier Calibre 3185 movement and has the all important Tritium dial which as you can see has aged beautifully. The 22 year production run saw the ref.16570 incrementally change, but we believe the very first series in the late 80s and early 90s is the most pleasing on the eye.
The dial and hands are original, the case and bezel have never been polished and remain sharp, this piece comes as watch only.
