Its amazing to think that Rolex made this reference for a whopping 16 years and was pretty much unchanged during this time. When Rolex launched the 116520 in 2000, ending the 12 year reign of the infamous 'Zenith Daytona' they also launched the 4130 caliber movement, this was technically the first in house Rolex chronograph movement and was also utilised in the ceramic version too.
Aesthetically a few things changed. The case is fully polished on this model rather than the usual brushed lugs on the top and polished sides. The dial has changed to include thicker hands and hour markers, the sub dials are also slightly higher up with the sub dial rings thicker. The sweeping seconds are now on the bottom sub dial rather than the 9'o'clock sub dial, this is due to the caliber change. The bracelet looks identical but the centre links and end links are now solid instead of hollow and the clasp has been updated.
This particular example has the 'APH' dial, a quirk in the printing where the aph in Chronograph is irregularly spaced. The anomaly is seen around 2010-2015, this being the last year and with the updated Chromalight markers.
The watch and full link bracelet are both in great condition, you can tell the watch has been worn sparingly over the last 9 years. Some minor surface marks to the clasp and case but only, no scratches or dings. The case has been polished previously. The movement is running well with strong amplitude, around 250 and at +3 secs per day.
The watch comes with its box, wallet, booklet and chrono tag.
