The Omega Speedmaster is one of the world’s most iconic watches and needs no introduction. It is also one of the most intriguing models to watch collectors as its design has subtly changed almost every year since its inception in 1957.
The present example, ref. 3590.50, was produced from approximately 1989 to 1996. It houses the reliable Caliber 861, and retains the signature aesthetics of its predecessors with the all black dial, white baton hands, and tachymeter bezel.
Although not the rarest speedy, the condition is superb. The original tritium lume has aged to a gorgeous and even creamy patina. The case is razor sharp, and the full link 1478/812 bracelet is still in great condition with minimal stretch I It runs superbly at +4 s/d, 262 amps, with a 0.2 ms beat error.
While good examples of earlier Speedmasters often commend well over 5-digit, this represents great value as a neo-vintage classic.
