Some watches have stories baked into them, and this Omega is one of those pieces. At its core, it’s a classic 1950s dress watch balanced, understated, and powered by Omega’s first full rotor automatic movements. But what makes this one truly special is the way time and history have left their mark.
The dial has transformed over the decades into a rich, even tropical tone—exactly the kind of natural aging that collectors chase, and that no factory can ever replicate. It gives the watch warmth and character, turning a mid-century Omega into something unique and unrepeatable.
What makes this watch even more special is its provenance. This example was owned by Vice Admiral Sir Jonathan Tod, a decorated Royal Navy officer whose career spanned from World War II into the Cold War era. Knowing this watch spent its life in the possession of a man who commanded ships and shaped naval history adds a layer of depth that few vintage Omegas can claim.
The watch itself has survived in tremendous shape, the original dial as we previously mentioned has tropicalised, the hands still have their radium plots , the case hasn't been touched and displays the usual wear marks. The bracelet is a service replacement from the 70's but is period correct, it will accommodate a 19cm wrist.
The movement has just been serviced and is currently running at +9 s/d, 275 amps with a beat error of 0.4.
