Originally launched in 1974, the Silverstone was handed the baton from the Heuer Monaco as the new Cal 12 square designed chronograph. The Silverstone being an even bolder design than the Monaco has a fully polished and rounded square case measuring 44x42mm. The watch came in three different dial colours, Blue, Red and Fume like this one. Heuer at the time famously used a picture (last pic) to advertise the model of Clay Regazzoni sat in his Ferrari 312 F1 car in 1974. Interestingly the Silverstone was the first Heuer to be names after a race track, the Daytona, Monza and Jarama followed soon after.
The example we have here hasn't donned a wrist for any length of time in its life. Sat in various draws and cupboards over the last 50 years, it remains in remarkable condition, the case has handling marks on the polished finish, the caseback is perfect and still retains its sticker, the corfam strap is in perfect condition as is the buckle. The dial markers and hands have aged to a deep cream and compliments that smoky sunburst dial so well.
We have just had the movement checked over and regulated, the trusty cal 12 is working like a new movement would at -2, 270 amps with 0.0 beat error.
This watch is peak Heuer, bold, innovative and so 70's. All you need is a shearling coat, some aviators and you are good to go.
