Founded in 1887 by Georges-Lucien Eberhard in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Eberhard & Co. has a rich history of innovation in watchmaking. The company introduced its first wrist chronograph in 1919 but in the vintage world, they are probably best known for the legendary Scafograf that was introduced in 1958. Fast forward to 1987, Eberbard & Co. launches the model we have here, the Navy Master to celebrate their 100-year anniversary. This model was made in steel, bi metal and solid gold like the example we have for sale.
Now for the money, this watch really is hard to beat. With its 18k yellow gold case, it packs a Valjoux 7751 auto movement based off the legendary 7750, which gives you day, date, month, moonphase, gmt hour and a chronograph. Thats a lot of complication for under 4k. The condition of the watch is also superb, the surface of the case shows some light oxidation telling us its not been used much, the dial is free from marks and stains and all the tritium plots are still intact. The original solid gold buckle is still present.
The movement has recently been serviced and is running at +5, 285 amps with a beat error of 0.3.
