We at Fathom here love CWC Royal Navy Divers. In the world of military horology, we feel they are some of the most underappreciated and underrepresented watches. Hopefully, as time goes on, we can play a small part in making these issued gems more commonplace in collections worldwide.
For those who aren't au fait with the brand or the Navy Diver. CWC or Cabot Watch Company was founded by Ray Mellor in 1972 with the sole intention of supplying watches to the British military and government organisations.
From 1980 to the early 2000s, CWC produced the Navy Diver and supplied them to the Royal Navy - these were in fact the watches that replaced the Rolex Milsub. Only around 3000 were made over its twenty-year production. This particular example was issued in 1983 and is one of 400 issued in that year, it was also the first quartz variant of the Royal Navy Diver. The dial displays the new CWC logo and a larger T symbol. The bezel insert remains acrylic with luminous numerals.
The dial and hands are in great condition, with no signs of water ingress. The case and bezel have small marks as you would expect with an issued watch. We have had a new battery fitted and the watch pressure tested ready for the next owner to enjoy the watch as intended.
