Breguet, a name synonymous with horological excellence, has long been a revered figure in the world of watchmaking. Established in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the brand has set unparalleled standards in innovation, influencing watchmakers globally with its pioneering movement designs and distinctive numerals. Over the centuries, Breguet has garnered a reputation for creating timepieces that marry technical prowess with aesthetic sophistication. Despite a period of relative obscurity, Breguet is once again captivating the hearts of both new and seasoned watch enthusiasts.

The renewed appreciation for their masterpieces is well-deserved, as each watch is a testament to the brand's enduring commitment to quality and elegance. Not only do you get the wonderful case shapes and high-quality dial finishes, but you also get spectacular movements. We know Cartier is renowned for their movements, but when you compare this to a Tank Louis, the Breguet Héritage 3490 in 18k yellow gold decidedly wins in a game of Top Trumps. In the early 90s, Breguet released several new models to their already established lineup, including the Héritage collection.

This model introduced a Tonneau-shaped case for the first time, which proved challenging for the watchmakers as the dials are manually engine-turned. The model was a success and is still offered today.

You might think the 29x33mm case would wear small, but as shown in the wrist shot on an 18.5cm wrist, you'd be mistaken. This watch is a perfect dress piece; paired with smart attire, it truly complements the outfit. To tone down the watch for a more casual environment, you could wear it on a paler leather strap. This watch represents a perfect balance of design, craftsmanship, and mechanical artistry. It ticks all three boxes, and we are still surprised these 90's Breguets are well under the five-figure mark.

The watch features the caliber 818/4 movement, which runs superbly at +9 seconds per day, with an amplitude of 295 degrees and a beat error of just 0.2 milliseconds.
