Introduced in 1989, the Jules collection as AP put it, is tribute collection to Jules Louis Audemars, one of the founding fathers of the brand. The collection focuses on timeless designs with high levels of finishing and is still running to this day.
In 2001, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the brands founding, AP produced the 25964 in both rose gold and platinum, the numbers of which are still unknown, however, looking at the price list from that year, they retailed at 98 and 114k euros respectively. Thats equivalent to over 200k today.
The watch itself is actually both platinum and 18k white gold. The mid case is platinum and the bezel and caseback are white gold. Another interesting feature is that the white gold caseback is covered in sapphire glass to preserve the decorative engravings.
The watch uses the lauded 2875 cal thats seen in the first Royal Oak tourbillon and was used right up until 2016. The dial displays a power reserve (54 hours fully wound), calendar wheel and time, making sure there is plenty of space left to showcase the tourbillon escapement.
The original exotic leather strap and white gold buckle are still present. The AP extract from the archive is also with the watch.
We have had the movement checked over and its running superbly at 0 s/d, 280 amps with a beat error of 0.1.
If you love ultra low production AP's then this has to be one to consider for your collection.
